Supercharged Greetings from FAT
« on: October 26, 2010, 02:04:05 AM »
Greetings from Forced Aeromotive Technologies. For those of you not familiar with us, we hold STCs for supernormalizer systems on the Cessna 182 and Cirrus SR-22 airframes using cool running, belt driven superchargers. I invite you to visit our website at www.forcedaeromotive.com for more specifics about our existing products.

I am posting here today because we are looking to gauge the market's interest in the possibility of a supercharged Bonanza. We are also looking for owners who would be interested in helping us with various stages of research and development.

At this early stage, we are looking for a 36, preferably with little to no modifications under the cowl to take measurements, check fitment and determine compatibility with our existing parts. Aside from removing the cowl there would be no work done to the aircraft at this time. As we are based at Centennial (KAPA) in Denver it would be preferable to have an aircraft close to us, even if it is only here for a few days on other business.

If you are interested in the eventual product, willing to let us look at your aircraft, or just curious about our company and technology in general, please contact us at 720-348-0622 or email rod@forcedaeromotive.com. Either Rod or myself will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

We have done one Lycoming O-360 and are currently working on a bolt up kit for the IO-360 that we will both certify as well as make available to experimental applications. At present we have not started development on the 540 series, but it is on our radar.

I looked into what it would take to install this system on an A36 a couple years ago. The system is based on a Vortec automotive centrifugal supercharger. I personally like the system but I am not sure if the Bonanza is a good candidate for the upgrade due to the complexity of the installation. The supercharger is driven off the A/C compressor drive and the supercharger mounting bracket interferes with the L/H instrument pump installation. If you have a standby pump then this becomes a little bit of an issue. One possible option would be to move the primary pump to the R/H mounting pad and replace the mechanical standby with an electric standby. Being that the Bonanza is one of the most modifiable aircraft in GA history one also needed to be mindful of conflicting STC's that may not be compatible. The Supercharger has been run on large displacement Continentals so that is not an issue, but I think the installation complexity is what has discouraged FAT from developing a kit for the Bonanza to date.
