landing light clear covers

On my 1956 G35 the landing light covers have been painted on the top half and the heat from the lamps have warped them. Is there any one who Manufactures new replacements?

I just replaced the landing light covers on my F35 and just using them going into Oshkosh, they started to warp again.  Is there lower wattage bulbs without going to LEDs?

Don,

I have been using the 100 watt bulbs for years.  No problems with warping of the plastic.

100 Watt 13V Screw Terminal (G53) Base PAR46 Narrow Spot Aviation Bulb (#4537)  5 3/4 in diameter.
There is also 35 watt

I'd be interested in knowing folk's perception of the totally clear covers v. the ones with tops painted (as are mine) for night operations.  Are the clear ones objectionable?

The upper 1/3 of my landing light lenses are painted (as yours are also).

I have been told that there is less reflective light (scatter light???) when the upper 1/3 were painted.   

I may have read this in Colvin's Clinic.

I run 250 watt landing light bulbs in my "H" Model and also warped a couple of sets of landing light covers. I like to run with my landing lights on, but didn't want to lower the wattage and compromise the ability to light up the runway when landing.

To cure the issue and get a bunch of years out of the bulbs (and lenses) I had a Pulselight system installed. Problem solved. My landing lights stay on at all times except when solid IFR. The bulbs last for years, and the lenses remain happy.
