2009 Bonanzas to Oshkosh

Rockford (RFD) & Oshkosh

Planes, Planes and more Planes. Every type of plane known, from the old war birds to the incredible Harrier! What an incredible event! This year several members of PBS met in Rockford, IL to participate in the 17th year of B2Osh, Bonanzas flying formation to Oshkosh. Bonanzas to Oshkosh began in 1990 when Wayne Collins and a few friends decided the only way to ensure camping together was to arrive together in formation. Wayne led Bonanzas to Oshkosh until 2001 when Elliott Schiffman took over the reins. Now, for 2007, leadership has passed to Larry Gaines. I must say from a passengers standpoint, it `s quite exciting and produces a lot of adrenaline flying in a group of 110 planes!

Aircraft vendors from all over the U.S. and Europe displayed their wares in 5 huge buildings on the grounds and during the day, a wonderful airshow entertained us all! Many camped, some stayed in hotels and a few of us (thanks to Gwen & Art Brock) enjoyed each others company in a four bedroom (air conditioned) house across the street from the camping area.

Oshkosh is one of those events that is a have-to-do-once-in-your-life-time event!
